Race Numbers Assigned

#1! Just how cool is that?

Okay, the race hasn't started yet, but we have our Air Race Classic number assigned and we are #1! It may be the only time we get to bask in #1 so will play it for all it is worth.

2010 heralds my 3rd air race and Sheryl's 2nd. We are teaming up again with hopes of finishing the race in the order in which we start.

The two previous races were flown in the Cherokee 140. The distinguishing aspect of the Cherokee is that we were about the slowest airplane in the race and had a great handicap.

This year my wonderful husband Bill has graciously allowed us to use his Bonanza. It took a really long time for him to even let me fly it so this is a big deal. The Bonanza may be one of the faster airplanes in the race this year so we will have a tough handicap. A faster airplane will give us more opportunity to strategize and not just worry about keeping up and finishing.

Sheryl has been busy getting experience with a complex, high performance airplane so that she will be ready to take on the challenge. I have been trying to stay out of the easy little Cherokee and force myself to take on the challenge of flying the Bonanza. Bill has been busy worrying.

Sheryl will be flying out to MA and flying to the race start in Fort Myers with me. This will give us the experience of flying together as a team as we make our way 2158 NM journey.
